Talking Drupal #083 - Galleries

January 29, 2015

In episode 83 we talk about photo galleries.

  • What do we mean by “gallery”
  • Considerations when building a gallery
  • Customer workflow
  • Single or multi content types
  • Page layouts
  • Lightbox and Colorbox
  • Image uploading
  • Mobile image upload
  • 3rd party integration

Module of the Week:

File Field Sources

FileField Sources is an extension to the FileField module. The FileField module lets you upload files from your computer through a CCK field. The FileField Sources module expands on this ability by allowing you to select new or existing files through additional means, including:

  • Re-use files by an auto-complete textfield
  • Attach server-side files uploaded via FTP
  • Transfer files from a remote server (cURL required)
  • Paste a file directly from the clipboard (Drupal 7 only)
  • Select existing files through the IMCE file browser
  • Although FileField Sources provides several built-in sources, it can be extended by any module through an API for creating new sources. Users can toggle between any of the available methods for selecting a file.

Probably sounds familiar to "y'all", but stil: great show, keep on the great work, my dog, a great pyr, (and I ...) love listening to it during our daily walks!

Just so that you know: I've quoted the module list here in my answer at ... and would appreciate some type of eMail confirmation if that's OK (like copyrights, etc). Note: There are some typos in your module list (names), which I corrected over there already.

Also, I'd love to suggest some future show topics for you, which I might be interested in participating in (I'm from the land-of-Dries ... ie BE, so watch the timezone ...):

1) maintenance scorecards (refer to my link about it in my answer).
2) Comparison of charting modules (checkout my community docu on D.O with that title for details).
3) the ArrayShift distribution, which is no longer abonded. I became the new module maintainer, and I'm looking for help / promotion to get contributors involved to come up with a real Drupal equivalent for "Drupal answers" ... compatible with D7 (to start), and also D8 (some day).

Merci (aka thanks) for your consideration,
Pierre (and Babou, the dog ...)

PS to Jason (aka the mobile friendly guy): this comment box is only like 3 lines high (on an ipad), and I cannot seem to make the line below it (to enlarge it) move downwards ...
